Tradition and Elegance: Join us for a British Tea Party in Celebration of King Charles’ Coronation

In celebration of the coronation of King Charles III on 6^th May 2023, 137 Pillars Suites & Residences Bangkok has joined with Chef Penny to curate a British Tea Party Afternoon Tea on the weekends and public holidays throughout the month of May and June.

The coronation is a formal ceremony marking the accession of a monarch to the throne, where they are officially crowned. It is a symbolic and ceremonial event that marks the start of a new chapter in a country's history, and is steeped in symbolism and tradition.

King Charles III, the eldest son of the late Queen Elizabeth II, has played an active role in public life and has been involved in numerous charitable organisations. Throughout his life, he has been passionate about environmental issues, architecture, and education, among other things.

Penny, a renowned pastry chef, is famous for her scones and for her creative pastries. She has had the privilege of cooking for King Charles at Windsor Palace and will be working with 137 Pillars Suites & Residences Bangkok for the special event.

The British Tea Party is a delectable array of both sweet and savoury treats. On the savoury side, the Coronation Quiche is a fitting addition to a coronation celebration, with its regal name, and the prawn cocktail is a savoury appetiser that's perfect for any occasion. And no British afternoon tea is complete without the traditional sandwich and croissant fillings of egg and cress, ham and cheese, and tuna and cucumber.

The luscious Strawberry and Elderflower Tart, adorned with fresh strawberries and infused with the delicate essence of elderflower, is a delectable and elegant dessert. Similarly, the Victoria Cake with rhubarb and strawberry jam is a timeless item, with a twist of tangy rhubarb adding a delightful flavour. The Battenberg Cake, with its distinctive pink and yellow squares, is a true British classic that's both beautiful and delicious. Served with Chef Penny’s signature scones, lemon curd, and strawberry jam, it's the ideal complement with our selection of sustainable Monsoon teas.

Available at Bangkok Trading Post Bistro & Bar from 12:30 pm until 5:00 pm on the following weekends and public holidays in May: 6-7, 13-14, 20-21, 25 and 27-28 May 2023 and in June: 3-5,10-11, 17-18 and 24-25 June.
