In keeping with their commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), a team of 17 staff from 137 Pillars House Chiang Mai planted 137 trees at Baan Tom Thai Dam in commemoration of World Environment Day on June 5th.
Deforestation in the area has led to a shortage of water and challenges in agriculture. In addition to helping with reforestation, the event also served to drive awareness among both staff and local communities of the importance of rehabilitation and protection of resources.
“The very existence of 137 Pillars House is a consequence of Thailand's early timber industry. It is therefore a natural synergy that the present custodians of this special house are involved in restoring and replenishing woodland areas in Northern Thailand. We should all passionately play a part in protecting our environment and the staff at 137 Pillars House are enthusiastic and pleased to make a small contribution”, said Anne Arrowsmith, General Manager.
